Wesley E. Finch

Mr. Finch is the Founder and Chairman of The Finch Group (“TFG”), which was originally organized in Boston, Massachusetts in 1981 and subsequently relocated to Boca Raton, Florida in 1997. TFG controls a group of associated single-purpose entities, each of which handles an aspect of the development, ownership and/or management of: (1) condominiums; (2) government assisted, affordable and/or market rate multifamily residential rental properties; (3) hospitality properties; or (4) commercial properties.

To the proven operational capabilities of the company, he adds his extensive experience in finance and taxation of real estate, making TFG uniquely qualified to participate in the structuring and restructuring of transactions on both the debt and equity side.

This has allowed TFG, from its inception, to establish an impressive track record by applying its extensive experience in evaluating, developing, rehabilitating, marketing, working out and managing affordable multi-family residential, mixed-use and high-end properties with an entrepreneurial attitude to implement well thought out business plans, on a property specific basis, that realistically reflect the strengths and weaknesses of each individual situation.

Over the years, Mr. Finch has been involved in over $2 billion of primarily real estate oriented ventures. These ventures included government assisted housing; high end condominiums at prices up to $3 million in 1993/94 valuation; the first HUD financed building to be converted to luxury condominiums in the U. S.; owning and operating the largest oceanfront resort hotel and conference center on Cape Cod; owning, what was at the time of its sale in 1996, the largest condominium development, management, operating, marketing company in New England. He also sits on the board of a public company that has grown from making loans secured by taxi medallions in New York, Boston, Chicago and Miami to becoming a source of private equity; and has been involved in over a dozen start-up companies. Additionally, as a result of the 1990 recession and the New England real estate crisis, after amicably “working out” TFG’s own portfolio of debt related instruments, the company took over from financial institutions and restructured, repositioned, acquired or sold approximately 75-80 distressed entities.

Mr. Finch’s general business philosophy has been influenced by a combination of leading a company through three recessions, and a 1993 book by Michael Hamer and James Champy entitled Reengineering the Corporation. His philosophy is that an entity needs to know where it wants to be in the future and then plan how to get there by never losing focus of the preferred end result; and, therefore, never making quick decisions in a panic mode.

A graduate of Bernard M. Baruch School of the City College of New York, Mr. Finch spent four years as a practicing CPA specializing in taxation of real estate. In 1973 he joined a client, a Boston based affordable housing developer, and during his eight year tenure, prior to founding TFG in 1981, moved from CFO to Partner and was responsible for the development, financing and operations of over twenty projects totaling approximately one quarter billion dollars.

In 1984, he was Finance Chairman of U.S. Senator John Kerry’s campaign and overall Campaign Chairman of his 1990 and 1996 successful re-elections. In 1987-88, he served as National Coordinating Chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, a legal extension of the U.S. Senate. In 1992-93, he was a member of President Clinton’s Transition Team and has also served on task forces appointed by President Reagan and the first President Bush.
